The idea of shipping on the dam Slezská Harta is as old as the dam.
The first attempts were made by Mr. Kodeda with his steamship. However, the dam is complicated for the introduction of shipping. It is very large, there are lower currents, there is an unstable water level, which causes problems whit building background. The big complication is a wind too.Last but not least, there is the biggest limitation to this, namely the prohibition of cruises by diesel engines, which limits the introduction of shipping and also makes it more difficult. The vessels are generally allowed on the electric drive.
Paragraph 5 § 7 of Act 254/2001 Coll., On Water, shows that the cruise of vessels with internal combustion engines is forbidden on surface waters in protection zones of water resources of the first degree and on reservoirs determined by a decision of the water authority pursuant to Section 8 (1) . For this reason, the Slezská Harta Dam was included in Annex I to Decree No. 46/2015 Coll., which confirmed the prohibition of navigation by vessels with internal combustion engines even after extensive review of the use of surface water that took place at the beginning of 2015 The ban on cruising will also apply to the future without the prospect of a change.
In 2010, official boat transport has was launched at Slezská Harta. Meanwhile, it is operated by the Santa Maria (replica of an old sailboat). The base is in a bay in Leskovec nad Moravicí. The Santa Maria with the experienced captain will take you to the most beautiful part of the dam, take you to interesting places, show the picturesque bays, learn about the history of the reservoir and about the surrounding municipalities where the construction of the waterworks touched. The excursion circuit is designed as an hour cruise, leaving in the summer season every hour. For more information, see What to Experience.
From 2014 is the Microregion working on ensuring high-capacity ship for 45 persons + crew. It has to be adapted to the conditions in terms of the law and the limitations (electric drive) and to the current requirements (barrier-free version, space for storing bicycles and prams).
In 2016, Slezská Harta Mikroregion managed to obtain funds from the Moravian-Silesian Region for ensuring this ship.
The year 2018 could already be marked by the launch of a large ship on the water.
